Time is a global currency.

We made the Lazy Eight hour ours and based it purely off of data.

In calculating our monthly hourly rate we use the following data points: Net hours by all our Principals the previous month vs. % of Utilisation (ie. realistically based on our team size how many hours can we commit).

If we are calculating the price for M+1 (next month). If M was relatively higher than M-1, M-2, M-3 our price goes up in correlation. If it wasn't it, goes lower. Simple supply vs demand.

Dynamic equity is an interesting concept - detailed read: http://bit.ly/2x7kFJb . It's a great way to split ownership of ideas (early on).

In our case our currency is defined - The Lazy Eight hour, and Acht allows us to capture the net hours (ie. effort) that goes into a particular project.

We thus recently introduced Labs, where our Principals get to work on their own ideas using Lazy Eight hours and a concept similar to dynamic equity.

The Principal has the option of either being compensated for the hours they put in (in this case equity goes to Lazy Eight) or they can keep the equity. Simple and fair.

We're pretty excited about Lazy Eight Labs, stay tuned - some really interesting projects will be rolled out soon.
